We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead all aspects of engineering and set the technical direction for Little Spoon. Little Spoon is a fast-paced, evolving environment where the Director of Engineering role will have the opportunity to make a great impact on the trajectory of the company and develop professionally.

Responsibilities:

  • You’ll help build out and support our engineering team by shaping the engineering team & developing a technical culture moving into the future.
  • You will assist with architectural decisions, driving agile practices, and mentoring the members of the engineering team.
  • You’ll work closely with other leaders and key stakeholders across the organization to identify, leverage, and create opportunities to improve production, quality and efficiency.
  • You’ll be responsible for cultivating a strategy that supports the holistic needs of the business by providing an architecture and the necessary solutions.
  • You’ll closely manage the engineering team towards maintaining high quality code, automated testing, and other engineering best practices. 
  • You’ll guide and mentor the members of the engineering team, ensuring every engineer has adequate growth opportunities through frequent feedback and assessments of their work.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with Digital Product to scope new features, bug fixing, and feature work.
  • As Engineering lead, you’re eager to roll up your sleeves when need be to help sprints, projects, tasks, or quarterly goals get over the finish line.
  • Set and ensure the upholding of high standards in engineering practices, across all domains (quality, reliability, scalability, customer focus, and more!).
  • You’ll be accountable for the technical vision and long-term technology strategy for the Little Spoon experience. Define the technical capabilities required to achieve the product strategy.

Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years working as a developer in a professional setting and 3+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Experience leading a technical environment using JavaScript, and must be comfortable with NodeJS, React, Redux and JavaScript (ES8+)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial start-up environment and leading engineering using Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • An understanding of system design, and experience leading staff and principal engineers.
  • Experience with managing a remote team of engineers.
  • Experience in creating a fun, positive culture that enables Little Spoon to attract and retain high-caliber talented humans.
  • E-commerce and/or subscription based e-commerce experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
