About the Role:
The Sr. FSQA Manager will support food safety and quality initiatives within our rapidly growing company with direct emphasis on managing our expanding network of external manufacturers and fulfillment service providers. You will report to the VP of Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory.
- Lead external manufacturing qualification process by conducting food safety and quality risk assessments during new external manufacturer scoping process.
- Provide regular communication to the Director of External Manufacturing regarding the status of the co-man qualification process in a timely manner, outlining recommendations for a potential new co-man’s competencies to provide safe, high-quality products.
- Ensure timely implementation of preventive controls and other SOPs for all risks identified during the scoping process. Participate in on-site production trials and other on-boarding activities for newly qualified external partners.
- Lead on-going monitoring activities of external partner’s performance, including tracking FSQA KPIs such as consumer complaints, product quality scores, FSQA deviations and other food safety incidents. Conduct regular audits and on-site visits, as well as participate in regular business reviews.
- Lead the corrective action process (CAPA) for all FSQA nonconformances with the external manufacturers to ensure proper and timely resolution of issues.
- Lead the implementation of new or evolving FSQA standards, policies and regulations related to Little Spoon products with external partners.
- Drive continuous improvement projects related to quality and food safety with external partners. Collaborate with the Director of External Manufacturing to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and minimize waste while maintaining compliance with food safety and quality standards or regulations.
- Collaborate with FSQA and Regulatory team members to ensure timely task completion related to product launches and other projects impacting the scope of work for all external partners.
Who You Are:
Our ideal candidate will check most of these boxes:
- 8-10 years of experience with managing external manufacturing partners in the food industry
- Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations, including but not limited to FSMA and HACCP requirements, knowledge in high risk, RTE, baby food (immunocompromised) regulations a plus.
- Strong computer skills, data management skills and a high level of comfort using technology and systems.
- Experience working with a variety of co-manufacturers, suppliers and contracted service providers.
- Experience in a variety of production processes and food categories.
- Solid organizational skills, with experience handling and managing multiple projects.
- Proven ability to interact and communicate clearly and effectively with cross functional business partners to establish targets plans, in order to maintain timelines.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Display a sense of urgency when issues arise and communicate those issues in order to facilitate resolution in a timely manner. .
- Possess a strong attention to detail along with ability to follow instructions, processes and procedures.
- Possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, is essential.
